Happy Monday morning, guys! The past week has been really stressful with getting ready to head back to campus and all other things life swings at you. So, I decided to do something for myself that I've had in my mind for a while. Then, it dawned on me to make this DIY my first life + style post. The lifestyle section of this blog will be about any and everything! From DIY hacks, to product reviews and places to try, I'll be getting a little more personal with these posts. So, let's get started! The BomberThis past Friday, I went to Target to check out the newest menswear collection, "GoodFellow & Co". While I was scoping out my potential debt for the store, I noticed a heavily filled clearance section with a huge fifty percent off advertisement. I walked over, and scan through the racks, to find this letterman inspired bomber jacket for $12 ( plus an extra 20% off on Cartwheel because your boy shops smart). I'd been eyeballing this jacket since I saw one of my insta buds, Zach Miko modeling it in Target's advertisements. I'd been planning to find a cardigan or jacket to give that "varsity/prep" look to with my personal customizations. For $10 bucks out of pocket, it would be the perfect jacket to test on. The Letters. After I left Target, I went to Jo-Ann's Fabric Store to find letters to apply on the jacket but only found the numbers, due to my personal vision for the letters to be bigger than the ones they offered. However, I grabbed the numbers "9" and "4" to stamp my birth year on the sleeve. I walked out over there with these two pieces for two bucks and a couple loose coins. If you ever need crafting supplies, Jo-Ann's has hella deals and coupons! Next, I headed to the local Michael's store in search of the letters.
Luckily, when I got to Michael's I found the first four letters of my name to put on the jacket. They're smaller than what I originally wanted, but turned out to be the perfect size. Each iron-on letter there was about 1.59 plus the taxation theft, which roughly came to a little under $7. When I got home today, I tested out where I wanted the letters to be placed on the jacket, and started ironing them. Multiple counts of 30 seconds went by as I ironed on the letters, and within five minutes, I had a customized bomber jacket. So the lesson in this post is to see if you can create something your want yourself, before you pay someone else to. I think I'll appreciate the jacket so much more knowing that I paid less than $20 for it, and had fun doing it myself. I can't wait to add on to it and show it off in public. 'Til next time! - Denz
