We meet again! I'm glad you're here and are interested in how my trip to the Big Apple was. This post will be longer than usual.I hope you're ready to read; there's a lot to inform you on! If you follow any of my social media accounts, and watched my constant posts the past couple of days, you saw most of everything that went on (but not all). If not, it's fine. That's why you're here! So, let's start with why I even went to NYC, should we? We should. ASOS, the trendy fashion retailer, launched a new menswear collection dedicated to the gentleman who has a little more to love on. The amazing people of ASOS-MAN (Instagram: @asos_man | Twitter: @asos_menswear) decided it was only appropriate to show this collection to everyone with help from menswear influencers who are more brawn. We all were excited from the time we read the email invites, to the time we flew in to New York to have a little fun with the brand! When I arrived at my hotel in Soho, I was taken all I could say is, "Damn, this is great!" New York is absolutely it's own kind of amazing. Everything was exactly how I imagined it, from the scenery-to the people. The hotel I stayed in was the Dream Downtown, and it was AWESOME! The hotel set a posh, yet eclectic vibe painted with silver colors and dark lighting. I was obsessed!
We all socialized about what we enjoyed about the pieces displayed on garment racks and the importance of body positivity and inclusion throughout the male community. After a fine dining menu, and drinks (only a few) we decided to head to our rooms with our new clothes from the collection. A handful of minutes later, an alert from a group message informing us to come to the club in the hotel. Guess what I did? You should know. PHD is hands down the best club I've ever visited. The sick lounge areas and the landscape view of NYC made me feel important to be there. We all danced, laughed and drank repeatedly. It was a really fun time. The next morning I was forced to wake from the annoying buzzed from my alarm. That did not sit well with my pounding head and full stomach. There's no time for laying around, when you're on a free trip in New York. So I got up, got myself together, and traveled alone to Times Square to search for gifts to bring back for my family. Gift picking was easy and fast, so I decided to roam around. I saw the famous Macy's and shopped around Urban Outfitters before contacting my Uber driver ( who was an awesome West African gentleman who's attending law school in the big city). The rest of the day was spent on a tour with ASOS, rocking our new gear, and being photographed for the company. We learned about a bit of the history of the lower east side, and sampled food at the famous Katz Deli. After walking around the city, living the life and taking hundreds of photos, we decided to eat at this cool little place in Manhattan. We sampled each other's food while laughing about jokes being told. Before we knew it, it was time to break up the fun times and head to our airports. This trip felt like days shoved into hours. I highly recommend visiting New York at some point in your life. I'm so grateful that ASOS let me be apart of this journey and stepping stone in their business ventures. I hope you enjoyed this post. Until next time. -Denz

As I'm soaring through the Charolette skies on my flight, I gaze out into where the white and blue colors meet throughout the sky and wonder what others feel when they are in this exact position. Is the first time flyer nervous or excited? Does the business man who flies multiple times a week still feel inspired, maybe lucky? Here I am, in complete awe. The love filled music blaring from my headphones and the peaceful skies help me realize, "Man, life is easy."
I look at life as a scavenger hunt. We run around in search of something we have little clues about, and it's up to us to make the most out of it and find those beautiful treasures. We all spend our days walking past strangers who could possibly be life-long friends. The smallest things get us down, and we let that 120 seconds of disappointment ruin the rest of the 300,000+ that are in the day. Why do we? Life is short. Spend your time enjoying those people and things placed in your life. Tell someone you love them. Dance like there's no one watching. Live life to the fullest. GoYDREAM. Life is about finding the beauty in everything, even the smallest things. So love and live, love and live hard. Until next time. - Denz |
