Happy Wednesday, folks!
Today is the second installment of my fall collaboration series with Bianca of Curvaceously Bee. Bianca and I are two fashion + lifestyle based content creators based in Memphis. Being two creators in Memphis who fit similar demographics, we thought it would be great to work together and show off what we have to offer to the communities we are apart of.
I always hear men and women of size say they can’t dress a certain way because of their body types. NOT TRUE! That’s where we come in. We are here to show you how to take it up a notch this fall. Today we’re focusing on how you can nail a neutral/earth tone look.Pairing neutrals
When styling neutral tones, it’s important to have 2-3 hues to focus on that mesh well together. For my look, I decided to play around with a look of light hues. I saw a look on Pinterest that looked very polished + dapper (which is not me). I thought it would be good to recreate the look to give my audience options who aren’t into the edgy vibes I normally dress in. I started with this taupe sweatshirt from Gildan for the simple fact it’s easy to work around.
The chino pants are from Amazon’s GoodThreads collection, and let me be honest I was worried about them. I knew I wanted this color chino, because it would give the European minimalist vibe I was going for. However, the pants are a straight fit. If you know me, you know I only rock with a slim or skinny fit. I’ve been seeing a lot of the big city based male creators rock relaxed fit chinos with dress shoes, and thought it was time to try it. I always thought the more relaxed and roomy pants on plus guys equates to us being not stylish and boring. Which is a problematic issue that has been programmed into my head by society. It’s all about how you style things! Okay the final pieces are my loafers from Vintage Foundry for Express and this Italian wool car coat from Bonobos. These rich brown loafers pull the look together completely for me. The contrast in light tones in my look to the dark shoes works so well. They are the most comfortable, yet stylish shoes I’ve owned. I highly recommend them! The car coat from Bonobos is FANTASTIC! In a world of trendy plaid topcoats and trendy bomber jackets, this one remains classic and a different kind of stylish. I will forever worship this jacket!
I hope you all enjoyed today’s post. I’ve attached links to Bianca’s + my look above. Be sure to check out her blog and give her a follow on Instagram @curvaceouslybee! Until next time! -Denz
